Billboard magazine reports “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X extended its record run topping the Hot 100 chart to 18-straight weeks — and counting.

Billie Eilish nears another notable record. Her “Bad Guy” has spent eight-straight weeks at the number two spot on the Hot 100. Billboard metrics show the song has peaked. The only way for “Bad Guy” to surpass Lil Nas X if for “Old Town Road” to decline faster.

Ten weeks is the Billboard record for being trapped at the runner-up spot. Missy Elliott stalled there with “Work It” in 2002.

Four years ago, Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” spent eight weeks as the bridesmaid. The song never topped the Hot 100. (Billboard)
