Is Prince William prepared to take over the monarchy?

King Charles has been given less than two-years to live and fear is mounting that William is wholly unprepared. A source said (quote) “The almost simultaneous news of Charles’s cancer has put William and Kate in frightening proximity to ascending the throne. A tidal wave of premature responsibility is crashing their direction.” (New York Times)
A Royal watcher said (quote) “Kate Middleton is the most popular member of the family. The future of the monarchy hangs by a thread, and that thread is her.”
Unfortunately, she’s been undergoing chemotherapy for an undisclosed cancer discovered after “planned abdominal surgery.” Prince William feels “intense anxiety” caring for Kate, raising their three children and prepping for the British Throne.
Hot Takes:
- But honestly, like parenthood, is anyone ever ready to “ascend the throne”?
- With his grandmother gone less than 2 years, his father soon to follow, his wife’s faith “up in the air” and three young kids to care for, any regular person would be under immense stress and anxiety. Why should the monarchy be any different?
- Maybe we’ve gotten to a point in human history where we should really ask ourselves, do we still need monarchs?
