Substance Found In West Wing Area Of White House Confirmed To Be Cocaine

A secret service official shared Tuesday that an investigation was underway after a “small amount” of a “white, powdery substance” was discovered in a work area in the West Wing on Sunday. At the time, the substance was suspected to be cocaine and triggered a brief evacuation as part of what the Secret Service described at the time as “precautionary closures.”
However, a U.S. Secret Service spokesman confirmed this Wednesday morning that testing shows it was cocaine found in the White House West Wing that evening. Now, there’s an investigation into how it got there. A source familiar with the investigation says the investigation will include consulting cameras and looking over entrance logs. The Secret Service broke the news on Tuesday and said it was investigating an “unknown item” found inside the White House complex.
