Only one movie matters this weekend: Avengers: Endgame, which plays at a record 4,600 theatres in The United States — a few of them open 24 hours a day through Sunday.

Thursday night previews brought in a record haul of at least $43 million — the biggest first night of any Marvel movie. Only Star Wars: The Force Awakenshad a larger preview night, with $57 million.

Disney predicts a $260-million debut for Avengers: Endgame. That’s in the vicinity of the all-time revenue record of $257 million, set by Avengers: Infinity War. There’s an outside chance Endgame could be the first movie to have a $300-million weekend. (Deadline Hollywood)
