KANYE WEST: Second Billionaire In Hip Hop

Congratulations to Kanye West for becoming the second billionaire in hip hop. Forbes magazine reports his Yeezy sneakers, music catalog, and properties in California and Wyoming are worth $1.3 billion.

Forbes called Yeezy “one of the great retail stories of the century.”

Kanye immediately disputed the calculation. He declared in a text to the magazine, (quote) “It’s not a billion. It’s $3.3 billion, since no one at Forbes knows how to count.”

The magazine counted Jay-Z’s money, one year ago, and determined he was the first billionaire of hip hop. In 2014, Dr. Dre declared himself hip hop’s first billionaire after selling Beats to Apple. However, Forbes magazine lists his estate at “only” $770 million. (Forbes)
