STEPHEN ROSS: SoulCycle, Miami Dolphins Owner Faces Backlash Over Trump Fundraiser

Written by on August 8, 2019

There’s a backlash growing against billionaire Stephen Ross, owner of SoulCycle and Equinox Fitness clubs, as well as the Miami Dolphins after word leaked out that he is hosting a fundraiser for Donald Trump at his home in the Hamptons.

Celebrities, as well as some well-known LGBTQ activists, went on social media calling for a boycott of Equinox gyms and SoulCycle over the fundraiser for Trump that has tickets going for as high as $250,000 to rub shoulders with the president.

Among those speaking out is comedian Billy Eichner and Miami Dolphins wide receiver Kenny Stills. Eichner tweeted the gym asking about its “policy for cancelling memberships once a member finds out your owner is enabling racism and mass murder?” He later said he had cancelled his.

Stills asked how Ross could have the non-profit Ross Initiative for Sports Equality “with this mission statement then open your doors to Trump.”

Ross said in a statement Wednesday that he’s known Trump for four decades and he’s “never been bashful about expressing” opinions about things he disagrees with him about. (The Washington Post)
