R. KELLY: Alleged Victims Speak Out

Written by on March 8, 2019

Part two of Gayle King‘s explosive R. Kelly interview aired on CBS This Morning Thursday, and it was the first time we’ve heard from the women who are alleged to have been brainwashed into joining the singer’s “cult.”

Kelly, who has been struggling to pay bail, rent and child support, says he didn’t know how bad his finances were until he went to Bank of America himself three weeks ago. He says he found out that people in his inner circle have been siphoning money out of his account through a conversation with a bank teller. He claims he has at least $350,000 in the bank but that it could take over a week to move it into a new account.

We also heard from his alleged victims for the first time. 21-year-old Azriel Clary claims that her parents actually wanted her to have sex with R. Kelly on videotape, and told her to lie about her age so they could potentially blackmail the singer. 23-year-old Joycelyn Savage the same thing “basically” happened with her parents.

Both alleged victims say they never had aspirations of professionally singing, in an attempt to shoot down rumors that they may have hooked up with Kells for the promise of mentoring or future fame. Azriel actually went as far as to say she tried to commit suicide because her parents were pressuring to become a singer, which contradicts medical records from her suicide attempt. At the time, she said she was having issues with her boyfriend and music helped “calm her down.”
