MARIAH CAREY: Four Decades With a Number-One

Mariah Carey starts the new decade with a number-one hit.

This is the third-straight week that “All I Want for Christmas Is You” tops the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

More importantly, Mariah becomes the first act to achieve a number-one hit in four separate decades. Her “All I Want for Christmas Is You” topped the charts in the final weeks of the ‘10s and the first week of 2020. Mariah owned the ‘90s with 14 hit songs and in the aughts her biggest chart-topper was “We Belong Together.”

She tweeted her excitement with an inside joke because she refuses to acknowledge the passage of time. (quote) “Yaaaaaaaaay!!! WE. DID. IT. But…. what’s a decade?”  (Billboard)
