DAVE CHAPPELLE: Tackled on Hollywood Bowl Stage

Tuesday night in Los Angeles, a person rushed Dave Chappelle and tackled him on stage. Police arrested the culprit. They confiscated a knife and gun. (KABC-TV News)

Once Chappelle’s personal security cleared the Hollywood Bowl stage, the comic composed himself and quipped (quote) “It was a trans man.”

Video reportedly from the scene shows the suspect being placed on an ambulance gurney. His face is re-arranged and there’s a bend in his right arm where it shouldn’t.

Among Chappelle’s backstage entourage were Jamie Foxx and Chris Rock, who ran out on stage to ask, “Was that Will Smith?” (The Daily Beast)

Dave Chappelle headlined Tuesday night’s Netflix Is A Joke Fest. He caused controversy last year with transphobic jokes in his Netflix comedy special. Nonetheless, Netflix re-signed him to a multi-special contract. (The Hollywood Reporter)
