CHRIS ROCK: Cardi B’s “One of the Funniest People in the World”

Chris Rock says he once tried to get Cardi B her own comedy show before she blew up as one of music’s biggest stars. 

He tells Jimmy Fallon, “My kids showed me this Cardi B girl, and she didn’t have a record out or anything. And I was like, ‘OK, we should do a show… So I went — me, Cardi B and her management — to like, kind of get a show going, but it just never happened.” Even though Bardi was trying to get her rap career off the ground, all he could see her as at the time was “one of the funniest people in the world.” 

He also claims he tried to put Wendy Williams and Leslie Jones on before they became famous but “no one would listen to me.”
