The Top 5 movies this weekend:

1. Frozen II – $127 million
2. Ford v Ferrari – $16 million
3. A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood – $13.5 million
4. 21 Bridges – $9.3 million
5. Midway – $4.7 million

Frozen II shattered records with a $127 million opening over the weekend. That’s the highest-grossing debut ever for Walt Disney Animation Studios and the biggest global opening for an animated film, with a $350 million haul.

The sequel also made more than the original, which earned $93 million over the five-day Thanksgiving holiday in 2013.
 

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, starring Tom Hanks as Mr. Rogers,opened in third with $13.5 million, and the thriller 21 Bridges premiered in fourth with $9.3 million.

Last weekend’s top movie, the racing drama Ford v Ferrari, dropped to second with $16 million.

The World War II flick Midway went from second to fifth with $4.7 million.

The flop Charlie’s Angels plummeted from third to eight with $3.2 million. In 10 days, the action reboot has earned only $13.9 million.
