DRAKE: *Care Package* Tops Album Chart
Written by KingCnote on August 13, 2019
Drake‘s Care Package will debut at number one on this week’s Billboard 200 album chart (Tuesday). And he set a Billboard chart record this week by becoming the first solo artist ever to put 200 (!) singles on the Hot 100.
Care Package becomes the ninth chart-topper for Drizzy, who joins some legendary company. Eminem, Madonna, The Rolling Stones and Gareth Brooks also have nine. They’re behind Elvis Presley (10), Bruce Springsteen and Barbra Streisand (11), Jay-Z (14) and The Beatles(19). Drake is by far the biggest number-one success this decade — all nine of those albums have come out since 2010.
Care Package debuts with 109,000 equivalent album units, 16,000 of them in digital album sales. There is no physical album available.
With six songs off Care Package entering the chart this week, Drake now has 203 charting songs in a recording career of just over a decade. He is just four charting songs behind the cast of Glee, the only other entity to rack up over 200 hits on the Hot 100.
