WHO RUN THE WORLD? CARTER GIRLS!
Written by Yasmin on April 9, 2024
It’s becoming a trend among the Carter girls to break billboard records. Blue Ivy Carter, eldest daughter to Beyonce & Jay-z first broke the record as the youngest female artist to appear on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2020 for her part on ‘Brown Skin Girl’. Blue Ivy was seven at the time of her accomplishment. In true Carter fashion Rumi, Blu Ivy’s six year old sister has entered the chart as the youngest charting female for her feature in ‘Protector’ from Cowboy Carter.
Rumi’s accolade comes after her mom, Beyoncé made history being the first black woman to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart after ‘Cowboy Carter’ hit shelves last month. The album also debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart, selling 407,000 album units during the first week of April. Beyoncé now has the fourth-most No. 1 hits among women, following Taylor Swift (13), Barbra Streisand (11) and Madonna (9).
