Notably known as an actor, writer, director, producer, and for two consecutive years in 2010 and 2011 listed on Forbes as the highest-paid man in Entertainment — Tyler Perry continues to contribute significantly to the industry and community.
Tyler Perry, a game-changer in Hollywood, recently hosted a star-studded grand opening of his massive new film studio, The Tyler Perry Studios, in Atlanta, Georgia. It is the largest independently owned by an African American.
Perry isn’t stopping there! When asked by Essence about what he intends to do next, he responded, “You know what, right now I’m dreaming about how do I build this shelter for trafficked girls, boys, and battered women.” Further to this, in a recent interview with Gayle King on CBS, he revealed that “Having a compound that is a beautiful place right here somewhere on this 330 acres, where they’re trained in the business and they become self-sufficient, they live in nice apartments, there’s daycare, there are all of these wonderful things that allow them to re-enter society and then pay it forward again. That’s what I hope to do soon.”
From Madea stage plays to owning a studio with 12 soundstages, Tyler Perry is creating a legacy and paving the way for black talent in Hollywood.
