MILEY CYRUS: Responds to LGBTQ Backlash

Written by on October 23, 2019

Miley Cyrus still believes that being gay is A-OK — and insists that she didn’t mean to dis the LGBTQ community in an Instagram live stream over the weekend.

The pop princess spent a good chunk of her time online raving about her new guy, Cody Simpson, who joined her on camera, throwing shade at ex Liam Hemsworth in the process.

During the course of her hour-long ramble, Miley said, “You don’t have to be gay…I always thought I had to be gay because all guys are evil, but that’s not true.” Not surprisingly, that set off some fireworks in the queer community and prompted angry social media posts.

Miley backtracked on Monday, tweeting that she was only joking. She wrote, “I was talking [smack] about sucky guys, but let me be clear, YOU don’t CHOOSE your sexuality. You are born as you are. It has always been my priority to protect the LGBTQ community I am a part of.”
