KELIS: Neptunes Tricked Me

The Neptunes are chart-toppers, Songwriters Hall of Fame nominees, and thieves –the last of those is according to Kelis. 

The “Milkshake” singer claims that the production duo of Pharrell and Chad Hugo screwed her out of publishing and profits on her first two albums. The Neptunes produced both Kaleidoscope and Wanderland, and according to Kelis, everyone agreed to splitting the money right down the line, earning 33 percent each. Kelis says she was “blatantly lied to and tricked” about the terms of the deal, and wound up signing a contract that she says was unfair. At the time, she says she was just told to sign and was too young or stupid to double-check. (The Guardian)

Kelis plans to embark on The Kaleidoscope tour on March 3rd in Europe. Her Kaleidoscope album will be reissued on February 21st.
