TRAVIS SCOTT: Injured Concert-Goer Sues

Written by on November 8, 2021

Lawyers filed a suit against Travis Scott less than 24 hours after what they called “eight needless, untimely deaths” at the Astroworld Festival.

The lawsuit claims that this disaster was “predictable and preventable.” The New York Times reports that the Houston police chief, who is a personal friend of Travis Scott’s, warned him before he took the stage. Troy Finner was concerned about the agitated energy in the crowd of 50,000.

An attorney for an injured concertgoer blamed Travis and promoter Live Nation’s “motivation for profit at the expense of concertgoers’ health and safety.” The lawsuit goes so far as to allege that the festival “in some cases, actively encouraged and fomented dangerous behaviors.”

Travis Scott has been criticized for continuing to perform while ambulances rushed to the scene and EMTs performed CPR only yards from the stage. (Billboard)
