JOHNNY DEPP: Calling TMZ to Witness Stand

The Johnny Depp-Amber Heard defamation trial is on pace for closing arguments this Friday. Beforehand, Depp’s legal team has a few more witnesses to call, including a former employee at the celebrity gossip site TMZ.

Depp’s legal team wants to unmask an anonymous source, which they suspect is Amber Heard. She denied – under oath – to supplying to TMZ a homemade video of Johnny having a screaming tantrum. That video was posted at TMZ and played for the jury. He slammed kitchen cupboards and belittled ex-wife Amber Heard.

TMZ’s emergency motion to block testimony is an effort to protect their confidential source “under the journalist’s privilege in Virginia law.” (Variety)
