3. Evil Dead Rise – $5.7 million
4. Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret – $3.4 million
5. John Wick: Chapter 4 – $2.4 million

The summer movie season has gotten off to a strong start with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 earning $114 million in its debut weekend. That’s the second-biggest opening weekend of the year, behind The Super Mario Bros. Movie with $146 million.

Super Mario Bros., which was number-one for four straight weeks, dropped to second with $18.6 million. The flick has now made $518.1 million at the domestic box office.

Evil Dead Rise dropped from second to third with $5.7 million, while Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret went from third to fourth with $3.4 million. John Wick: Chapter 4 remained in fifth with $2.4 million.
