1. Venom: Let There Be Carnage – $90.1 million
2. The Addams Family 2 – $18 million
3. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – $6 million
4. The Many Saints of Newark – $5 million
5. Dear Evan Hansen – $2.5 million

Venom: Let There Be Carnage earned $90.1 million at the weekend box office, a record opening for the COVID era. That was also better than the first Venom film, which took in $80.3 million in 2018. It’s also the second-highest October opening movie history, just behind Joker, which made $96.2 million in 2019.

Marvel’s Black Widow was the previous COVID record-holder with an $80 million opening in July.

The Addams Family 2 opened in a distant second with $18 million, while Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings dropped to third with $6 million after four weeks at number-one.

The Sopranos prequel movie, The Many Saints of Newark, made $5 million in its first three days of release, landing in fourth.

And the musical Dear Evan Hansen dropped from second to fifth with $2.5 million.
