5. Terminator: Dark Fate – $10.8 million

The World War II action flick Midway was the surprise winner at the weekend box office, upsetting Doctor Sleep.

Midway, starring Patrick Wilson and Woody Harrelson,earned$17.5 million in its opening weekend, well ahead of expectations.

Doctor Sleep, the sequel to the classic horror flick The Shining, came in second with $14.1 million, though industry experts estimated it to open around $25 million.

The John Cena comedyPlaying With Fire opened in third with $12.8 million, and the Emilia Clarke – Henry Golding romance Last Christmas debuted in fourth with $11.6 million.

And after a week at number-one, Terminator: Dark Fate dropped all the way to fifth with $10.8 million.
