Pete Davidson Is Heading To Space

“I’m on a new level!” When it comes to Pete Davidson, expect the unexpected. According to CNN, the SNL comedian will become the latest celebrity heading to outer space via Jeff Bezos’ rocket company, Blue Origin. This morning, the company announced that Pete would fly alongside five customers on Blue Origin’s 60-foot-tall New Shepard rocket. The trip is scheduled for later this month.
Pete seems to be heading to space with a unique group of individuals. The passengers include Marty Allen, an investor and the former CEO of a party supply store. Jim Kitchen, entrepreneur, and business professor. George Nield, former associate administrator for the Federal Aviation Administration Office of Commercial Space Transportation. Marc Hagle, an Orlando real estate developer, and his wife, Sharon Hagle, founder of a space-focused nonprofit.
In preparation for the trip, reports state the crew will spend a few days training at Blue Origin’s facilities in West Texas. Before the flight day, they’ll climb into the New Shepard crew capsule, located on top of the rocket. Following liftoff, the rocket will tear past the speed of sound and, near the top of its flight path, will detach from the capsule. When the rocket booster heads back toward the Earth for an upright landing, the capsule transporting the crew will continue soaring higher into the atmosphere.
The atmosphere is more than 60 miles above the surface, where the blackness of space is visible. The crew will have access to see outside the capsule’s windows and see sweeping views of the Earth. It’s not surprising to see Pete take this trip. If you recall, CNN reported on March 3rd that Pete was in talks with the billionaire to join one of his upcoming space flights after he attended dinner with Kim Kardashian at Jeff’s Los Angeles home in January.
