MICHAEL JACKSON: Booted From The Simpsons

Written by on March 9, 2019

The fallout from the Michael Jackson HBO documentary Leaving Neverland has led the creators of The Simpsons to yank the episode featuring the late King of Pop’s voice.

Producers James BrooksMatt Groening [pr: GRAY-ning] and Al Jean say they’ve decided to pull the 1991 episode titled “Stark Raving Dad” from all streaming platforms, network re-runs and future box sets following the airing of the documentary, which details the sexual abuse allegations against Jackson.

Brooks tells the Wall Street Journal, “It feels clearly the only choice to make. The guys I work with — where we spend our lives arguing over jokes — were of one mind on this.”

In the episode, Jackson voiced a character named Leon Kompowsky — a patient in a mental hospital who believed he was Michael Jackson.
