JUSSIE SMOLLETT: Lawyer Ensnared in Nike Bribery Sting

A very bad year for Jussie Smollett took a downward turn, yesterday.

His lawyer, Mark Geragos [pr: gair-UH-gose], is caught up in the Michael Avenatti mess. They’re accused of trying to extort Nike.

Federal investors say Geragos and Avenatti threatened to release damaging details about Nike. Avenatti promised to “ride off into the sunset” if the company paid them $20 million.

Jussie Smollett badly needs an attorney. Especially one that is no in prison. Last week, a grand jury indicted him on 16 felony charges. He’s accused of filing a false police report after staging a fake hate crime. (New York Post)
