NICKI MINAJ: “Super Freaky Girl” Makes *Billboard* History

Nicki Minaj is a generational talent. It’s been more than a generation since a woman debuted at Number-One a song without features.

Nicki’s latest, “Super Freaky Girl,” tops the Billboard Hot 100. In part because her loyal followers, The Barbz, purchased the track. Billboard gives digital downloads more weight for weekly rankings versus streaming numbers and radio airplay.

Nearly 100,000 Barbz bought “Super Freaky Girl.” That amount triples the number of digital downloads for the other tracks in the Top 10. Convincing followers to buy the track propelled Nicki to Number-One. (New York Daily News)
