TRAVIS SCOTT: Nike Delays Air Max 1

Nike abandoned a major holiday promotion with Travis Scott.

The Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack shoe was scheduled to arrive the week before Christmas. Then the Astroworld tragedy happened in Houston. Nike began to have doubts. Law enforcement officials blamed Travis Scott merch for triggering chaos at Astroworld where 10 died.

On Monday, they issued a statement (quote) “Out of respect for everyone impacted by the tragic events at the Astroworld Festival, we are postponing the launch of the Air Max 1 x Cactus Jack.” (People)

Travis Scott partnered with Nike four years ago. He’s designed several sneakers including Cactus Jack Air Jordan 4, Air Jordan 33 and the SB Dunk. Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said last week, (quote) “A big challenge was merchandise tents. Very sought-after merchandise. That’s what caused some of the kids rushing and breaking down barriers.” (Complex)
