TAYLOR SWIFT: Snubbed by *Oscar*

Written by on December 17, 2019

Taylor Swift’s daydreams of becoming an EGOT must be deferred.

The Motion Picture Academy released a “short list” of possible Best Song nominees. Taylor’s tune from Cats, “Beautiful Ghosts,” was notably absent. No Oscar for her. (Variety)

At last night’s movie premiere in New York City, Taylor explained how her father brain-stormed the catnip scene with Tom Hooper. The director and Taylor discussed in Nashville about her role in Cats. That’s when her father blurted out (quote) “What if at the Jellicle Ball they all get catnipped so they all just start going crazy?”

The director was unfamiliar with catnip. Taylor played YouTube clips of cats on catnip and Hooper said (quote) “That’s going to be in the movie. That’s exactly what we’re going to do.” Her Bumbalina character gets the honors of sprinkling catnip. (Variety)
