JAY-Z: Tops All Hip-Hop Artists in Earnings

When Jay-Z gets around to filing his 2021 IRS taxes, he will list his revenue at $470 million. Hova was last year’s top-earning hip-hop artist thanks to selling shares in Tidal and Armand de Brignac champagne. Altogether, Jay’s wealth is approaching $2 billion.

A former editor from financial magazine, Forbes, compiled who made the most money last year. Nobody came close to Jay-Z, though Kanye West finished second by earning another quarter-million dollars. Yeezys is Ye’s main source of income these days.

Doja Cat topped the women in hip-hop. Among all rappers, she’s tied for 10th by pulling down $25 million in 2021. She partnered with CandyCrush and Pepsi. An ad exec said, (quote) “Hip-hop has, and always will, set trends. Brands realize they need to be in the mix testing partnerships and trends before they have the data to back it up.” (Vibe)
