Trinidad & Tobago is known for many things, amongst those are their annual Carnival celebrations. The country and its culture are the home and originator of Soca Music.
The Trinidad and Tobago Carnival is an annual event held on the Monday and Tuesday before Ash Wednesday in Trinidad and Tobago. During this time the annual soca music competition, International Soca Monarch. Contestants in the event vie for two separate crowns or titles, the International Soca Monarch for uptempo songs, and Groovy Soca Monarch for slower-paced songs.
Last night, Iwer George has been dubbed the Power Soca Monarch for 2020 for his hit, Stage Gone Bad. Jessie “College Boy Jessie” Stewart won the 2020 Groovy Soca Monarch crown for his track, Happy Song.
