SPACEX: All-Civilian Flight Launches

Take that, Elon Musk. SpaceX has successfully launched a rocket with an all-civilian crew into space.

The crew of four is headed by billionaire Jared Isaacman, who says he’s using the flight to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. He is qualified to fly commercial and military jets.

Also on board is Hayley Arceneaux, a former cancer patient at St. Jude who now works there as a physician’s assistant; aerospace worker Chris Sembroski; and trained pilot Sian Proctor, who nearly became a NASA astronaut in 2009.

The Falcon 9 rocket propelled the Crew Dragon capsule into space last night (Wednesday). Dragon will orbit the Earth at a distance farther than the International Space Station for three days. (USA Today)
