DAVID BLAINE: High on Helium
Written by KingCnote on August 13, 2020
Magician David Blaine plans to recreate the 2008 Pixar movie Up.
Later this month, Blaine will hold onto helium balloons and float across the Hudson River. The shortest distance from New Jersey to New York City is three-quarters of a mile. Any less and Blaine lands in the drink like airplane Captain Sully.
Blaine’s flying excursion will be live-streamed August 31 on his YouTube channel. He tweeted on Wednesday (quote) “This stunt has been 10 years in the making. Let’s turn worry into wonder and take magic to new heights.”
An estimated 14,000 liters of helium is required to sustain David Blaine in the air. Then the wind must blow in the proper direction so he drifts to New York City. Finally, he’ll need to pop balloons for a safe and soft landing. (New York Daily News)
