ARIANA GRANDE: Surrendered 90% of “7 Rings” Revenue

Written by on March 20, 2019

Ariana Grande has a #1 hit song with “7 Rings.” But you wouldn’t know it from her bank account.

Ariana surrendered 90 percent of the royalties to a pair of dead songwriters Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein [pr: hammer-STINE].

The company that owns their famous Broadway songs demanded a high price for Ariana to use “My Favorite Things,” which Rodgers and Hammerstein wrote for The Sound of Music. Ariana was so desperate because time was running short that she never negotiated. Rodgers and Hammerstein wanted 90 percent of the royalties. Ariana gave it to them. They’re going to make millions from the grave.

That leaves 10 percent to Ariana, who must split it with seven other songwriters. (New York Times)
