DUA LIPA: Accused of Plagiarism

A reggae band from Florida is taking Dua Lipa to court for plagiarism.

They accused her of stealing from one of their songs, “Live Your Life.” Listen to just the first 30-seconds and the similarity is evident. Sounds exactly like the chorus of her biggest Billboard hit, “Levitating.”

Artikal Sound System filed the copyright infringement lawsuit in Los Angeles federal court. The group claims the similarities are so close that it’s “highly unlikely ‘Levitating’ was created independently.”

The group released “Live Your Life” three years ahead of “Levitating.” The suit underscores that Dua Lipa had “access” to their song, leaving Artikal Sound System confident she copied them. (Billboard)
