2020 BET Awards

The nominations for the virtual 2020 BET Awards have been announced and Drake, Megan Thee Stallion and Roddy Ricch are the leading nominees this year! According to Billboard, Drake, snagged a total of six nominations for Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Viewer’s Choice Award, two nominations for Best Collaboration and two nominations for Viewer’s Choice Award. Both Megan Thee Stallion and Roddy Ricch, tied with five nominations each. The Savage rapper is up for Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Best Collaboration, Video of the Year, Album of the Year and Viewer’s Choice Award, while Ricch is nominated for Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Video of the Year, Album of the Year, Viewer’s Choice Award and Best New Artist. According to the press release CBS will simulcast the awards show for the first time, which recognizes black excellence in music, television, film, sports and philanthropy. As the news site notes, Beyoncé, Chris Brown, Lizzo, Nicki Minaj and DaBaby are up for four nominations each. The celebration of the award ceremony’s 20th anniversary and BET’s 40th anniversary, will go live (8 p.m. ET) across ViacomCBS networks, including BET and BET HER, and make its national broadcast premiere on CBS on June 28 (8 p.m.-11 p.m. ET/PT).
