LIZZO: “I Quit” … Accepting “Negative Energy”
Written by Ariel Newbold on April 3, 2024
Last week, Lizzo declared in the wake of criticism, “I didn’t sign up for this [stuff]. I quit.” This week, she’s qualified that statement.
Lizzo is not quitting showbiz. She posted a video on Tuesday (quote) “I just need to clarify when I say, ‘I quit,’ I mean I quit giving any negative energy attention.”
Good. Glad we have that straight. Could’ve written that down the first time, though. Just one question: Why the need to announce on social media that you intend to ignore the haters?
Lizzo framed her return to show business and social media as being a strong role model (quote) “If I can just give one person the inspiration to stand up for themselves. Quit letting negative people, negative comments win.” (E! News)
Hot Takes:
- We’ve all been in Lizzo’s shoes. One day you’re feeling down in the dumps but a few days later filled with renewed enthusiasm.
- Social media plays with your head.
- Florida enacted an age limit and verification for many apps. Politicians are treating social media like tobacco and alcohol products: Harmful and addictive.
- Turn off comments. Remove apps from your phone. Hire a social media manager to protect you from “negative energy.”
