2. Sound of Freedom – $27 million

4. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny – $12 million

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One was number-one at the weekend box office with a “lackluster” $56.2 million. The Tom Cruise action flick, which cost a reported $300 million to make, was released on Wednesday and has earned $80 million in its first five days of release.

Sound of Freedom continues to perform strongly. The faith-based movie about child sex trafficking took in $27 million over the weekend, climbing from third to second. The movie, starring Jim Caviezel, has earned $83 million after two weeks of release.

Insidious: The Red Door dropped from first to third with $13 million.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was fourth with $12 million, ahead of Elemental with $8.7 million.
