The Top 5 movies this weekend:

1. Birds of Prey – $33.3 million
2. Bad Boys for Life – $12 million
3. 1917 – $9 million
4. Dolittle – $6.7 million
5. Jumanji: The Next Level – $5.5 million

Despite good reviews, Birds of Prey failed to take flight at the weekend box office, opening with $33.3 million — well below the $40 to $60 million that analysts had predicted. The first Harley Quinn stand-alone movie had the worst opening of any film in the DC Extended Universe.

After three weeks at number-one, Bad Boys for Life dropped to second with $12 million. The Will Smith – Martin Lawrence action flick has now banked $166.3 million.

The World War I flick 1917 was third with $9 million, followed by Dolittle($6.7 million) and Jumanji: The Next Level ($5.5 million).
