The Jumanji sequel will easily win the box office derby. Jumanji: The Next Level stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan and Nick Jonas. Tracking numbers suggest that this opening weekend revenue on 3,800 screens should approach $50 million.

Fright freaks will want to watch Black Christmas this Friday the 13th. It’s a remake of a horror classic. A serial killer attacks a college sorority during the holidays. Black Christmas might make $10 million.

The Clint Eastwood drama, Richard Jewell, about the 1996 Olympic bombing in Atlanta will open with around $10 million.

Next weekend, the Star Wars series finale will dominate mega-plexes. The Rise of Skywalker is projected to make more than $200 million in its first weekend. Even against the highly anticipated movie adaptation of the Broadway musical Cats that stars birthday girl, Taylor Swift.  (Box Office Mojo)
