Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid will make a huge splash this Memorial Day weekend. Through Monday, The Little Mermaid starring Halle Bailey is projected to earn $125 million from 4300 theaters.

Fast X will take the silver medal in its second weekend with a box office take around $30 million.

Three comedies arrive as counter-programming but will struggle to make a dent at the box office. Robert De Niro stars in About My Father and stand-up comic Bert Kreischer leads the R-rated, The Machine. Both might make $5 million.

Seinfeld and VEEP alum Julia Louis-Dreyfus in You Hurt My Feelings will make only a blip on Monday’s box office report. This dramatic-comedy is tracking toward a debut of less than $1 million. (Variety)
